Celtic are set to have a very busy month for the rest of December. The Hoops face five league games in 14 days, which concludes on the 29th of December against Rangers.
Following that game though, the Hoops will have a winter break until they return to action on the 18th of January against Partick Thistle in the Scottish Cup.
The players are set to travel to Dubai in January for a week’s training, and Lennon thinks this can only benefit the squad. He detailed what the club are set to get up to in Dubai to the Celtic View.
“Very beneficial”

“It’s very beneficial for the squad” Lennon said, as quoted by the Celtic View (Volume 55, Issue 23, Page. 06).
“First of all, the players get a rest, and they’re going to need it at the end of the month. When we start the week of training we’ll do a sort of mini pre-season and get rid of all the pains and giggles, and we’ll do a bit of fitness work. That will stand them in good stead going into the second-half of the season.”
It makes sense for the club not to play any friendlies or even bounce games during the winter break. It is a good idea that in pre-season, for sure.
Fitness work is better option than bounce games

However, that is the last thing that the players will want to do after playing so many games in December. It is a far better option to do fitness work.
Lennon certainly seems to be a proponent of the winter break. He dealt with it in the past as both player and manager at Celtic. Both of those spells were very successful, and perhaps the work done during the winter break was partly the reason Lennon was able to go on and win so many trophies at the club.
The Hoops boss will hopefully be heading into the winter break clear at the top of the league. Even if that isn’t the case, Celtic and Lennon’s plans for the winter break seem to be sensible.
