Celtic boss Neil Lennon has given a huge vote of confidence to the Hoops’ left-back Greg Taylor ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Motherwell.
The Hoops boss, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account, indicated that the former Kilmarnock man is first choice left-back for the team, for now anyway.
“Greg’s played very well and, at the minute, he’s first in line to play” the Hoops boss said.
That is a huge vote of confidence from the Hoops boss for a player who has not played that many games for the team this season.
Started last two matches
So far, he has played 13 times for the first-team, but perhaps more significantly, he started Celtic’s last two matches.
Taylor’s recent performances seem to have satisfied Neil Lennon that the player is worthy of holding down a first-team place.
That will be the news that Taylor has been waiting to hear. After all, he had to wait almost two months after signing from Kilmarnock to make his debut for the Hoops.
Now it seems that Lennon has been won over by Taylor’s performances for the Hoops.
Has to play well to keep place in team
What Taylor will have to do is make sure that he keeps playing well for the team, now that he seems to be the manager’s first pick for left-back.
He knows that should his performances falter, then either Jonny Hayes or Boli Bolingoli will be on hand to take his place in the team.
For now though, it looks as if Taylor will be first-team regular for a while to come.
