Chris Sutton isn’t having the criticism of Ange Postecoglou and Celtic from his former teammates Neil Lennon and Paul Lambert.
That was the duo doing analysis on BT Sport after the Bayer Leverkusen match on Thursday night. Clearly, after a 4-0 defeat, it was a tough review for Postecoglou and the Bhoys.
However, Sutton has hit back at their comments and given the pair something to think about in his Daily Record column today.

The former striker said: “Celtic sparks strong opinions. That’s the nature of the club. Two of my old teammates Neil Lennon and Paul Lambert were doing telly the other night and were forthright in their views.
“Neil was talking about kamikaze defending. He was right, it was at times. But you have to remember Neil’s team lost 19 goals in their group games last season.
“Paul was talking about a winning mentality. How the teams we played in went on long unbeaten records at home in Europe. But that didn’t happen overnight either. Martin O’Neill built that up. We got bumped out by Bordeaux in an early round of the UEFA Cup in our first season with Martin.
“Brendan Rodgers tried to be expansive in Europe, albeit at a higher level in Champions League, and came back from places like Barcelona and Paris having suffered brutal hidings. That was his philosophy. Whether you agreed with it or not, that’s the way he told his team to play – to be brave and take the ball – the same as Postecoglou is doing.”
It’s not the first time Sutton has had a go at Lennon over the last 24 hours either, also describing the former Celtic manager’s analysis as “somebody dumping a big lorryload of horse manure on your front garden, moving out next door and then complaining about the smell” on BT Sport Scottish Football Extra.
Sutton doesn’t appear to appreciate his former teammate rocking up to critique Postecoglou after the shambles he left in his wake last season. I think many Celtic fans will be in the same boat.

Lennon has every right to pursue a career in the media after his Celtic exit. I have no argument there. Yet, could he perhaps forego Bhoys fixtures so soon after his high-profile disaster last term? For me, yes.
Maybe this reality check from Sutton will wisen him up a bit.
