Neil Lennon happy for Kieran Tierney saga to drag on

Neil Lennon insists he won’t be bothered if the saga around Kieran Tierney’s future continues all summer.

The Hoops left-back has already been subject of two failed bids from Arsenal, with the Gunners expected to return to the table shortly. Italian giants Napoli are also interested in Tierney who happens to be injured at present.

Speculation has been rife about the 22-year-old but Lennon says he’s not overly bothered. He did, however, tell the Scottish Sun that the player may be unsettled by the chat.

“We are at £20million plus and it has been rejected out of hand”, Lennon explained. “It’s up to Arsenal or anyone else to reach our valuation of Kieran.

“Is it a problem if it drags on? It’s not a problem for me.

“The other thing is he is not fit. Kieran is away doing his rehab with the physios.

“I’ve had a couple of chats with him over the past few days and it can be unsettling. You are a human being and sometimes your mind races away with things.

“It’s just a question of staying in the here-and-now and letting things take their course.”

Lennon is right about Tierney

Given all of the chatter about Tierney’s potential departure, his injury woes have barely been spoken about. The Scotland full-back is still recovering from a double hernia operation earlier this summer and that can’t be an easy thing to get over.

Hopefully he is just concentrating on getting back to full fitness for Celtic because that is still who’s paying his wages. The 22-year-old is highly unlikely to seek a transfer given his love for the club so Celtic fans can rest easy knowing that the club won’t be forced into accepting an offer.

For all of the discussion, Tierney’s situation hasn’t changed at all. He’s still a Celtic player and that will stay the case until an acceptable bid is made for services. It really is that simple.
