Celtic boss Neil Lennon has offered a remarkable olive branch to rarely used Hoops defender Marvin Compper.
Compper has played only once for the Bhoys since joining the club in January 2018. But with the Hoops in the middle of a defensive injury crisis, Lennon has revealed that Compper may be called upon.

“If called upon he’ll be ready, fitness-wise anyway” Lennon told the Daily Record. He also revealed he was pleased with Compper’s performance in the Hoops development team’s 6-0 win over Dundee.
“Attitude was excellent”

“He played a development game on Tuesday and I went to see it. His attitude was excellent.”
Compper’s signing has to go down as one of the great mysteries of Brendan Rodgers’ time as Hoops boss.
He was signed from a Bundesliga side, RB Leipzig, and signed a two and a half year deal.

Sole appearance one year ago
Despite his pedigree, Compper’s sole appearance came in the 3-0 Scottish Cup win over Morton last March.
Since then, nothing, he wasn’t even used in the Champions League qualifiers, which he was presumably the reason he was brought to the club.
It would put the cap on an odd season for the Hoops if Compper became a regular in the Hoops team. The chances of that happening seem rare.
However, the player might well find himself on the bench against Aberdeen on Saturday. Stranger things have happened recently at Celtic.
