Neil Lennon hints at lack of changes against Livingston

Neil Lennon has hinted that he will make as few changes as possible for Celtic’s trip to Livingston this Sunday.

The Bhoys head over to West Lothian, where they failed to win last season, for their final league match before the international break. Lennon’s men currently top the Premiership by a single point but will probably have to win to keep things that way – given that Rangers host Hamilton at Ibrox.

And the importance of staying top hasn’t been lost on Lennon who spoke to press on Friday.

Lennon should keep things the same in Livingston

There’s an argument that Lennon has more to lose by freshening things up against Gary Holt’s side. As mentioned by the Northern Irishman, we go into an international break after this game. That means that any players who feature against Livingston will have a fortnight to recover for our next match.

Of course a lot of them will be playing for their various international teams but that’s not of much concern to us. If Odsonne Edouard is a bit tired while playing for France’s under-21s because he featured at Livingston then that will matter little to Lennon or the Celtic support.

Livingston proved how hard a test they provide on two separate occasions last season. Twice we failed to breach their defence and were held to goalless draws. The same cannot afford to happen this weekend, especially after we dropped points at Hibernian last week.

The sensible suggestion for Lennon is to field his first-choice eleven – perhaps even the one that beat Cluj – then take players off if we’re in a comfortable position.

Make no mistake about it, it’s a massive game. We must go into the international break top of the league. If we take care of Livingston we will be guaranteed to do so.
