Celtic have been busy on the contract front this week. Both James Forrest and Scott Bain have committed their futures to the club by signing long-term deals.

Hoops boss Neil Lennon has confirmed that the club are in talks with other members of the squad about getting them to commit their future to the club. One of the players in discussion is Callum McGregor.

“We’re talking to one or two players, so hopefully we can get those contracts over the line soon” he said, as reported by the Daily Record.

“Callum is one of them, he’s an important player and it would be good to get him tied down too. It’s important to have your core, and the core players here have been outstanding for the last three seasons” he concluded.

It would be a good move for Celtic to get McGregor tied down on a new, lucrative long-term deal as soon as possible. He has been one of Celtic’s key men for the last number of years.

A new deal for McGregor would also lessen the chance of him leaving the club. There has been interest in the player from England.

It was reported that Brendan Rodgers tried to sign the player for Leicester on the last day of the English transfer window. However, Celtic refused to sell the player.

It is good to see that Celtic are tying down players who will be the bedrock of the side for years to come. Bain is a handy player to have in the squad. Forrest has been one of Celtic’s most important players of the last decade.

Hopefully more players commit to the club as the quest for nine in a row continues.
