Neil Lennon hopes to take advantage of peculiar transfer window situation

Celtic boss Neil Lennon is hoping that the Hoops use a peculiar transfer window situation to the club’s advantage. The deadline for clubs in England to buy players is on Thursday at five pm. However, they can still loan and still players after that.

That means that Celtic can make a move for a player in England up until the 2nd of September. The situation is an odd one that Lennon hopes Celtic can use to the club’s benefit.

“I think that it helps us, it gives us a bit longer to assess things” Lennon said, as reported by the Daily Record.

“Players may become available that aren’t at the minute, they could be looking for first team football, the opportunity to try something fresh. So yes, I feel that the extra few weeks is an advantage to us.”

Champions League also a factor?

One other aspect that may have be taken into account is the possibility of the Hoops qualifying for the Champions League group stages.

Should Celtic reach the group stages, then players may be far more willing to join the Hoops. Celtic could perhaps also afford to splash out on a few big signings if that qualified as well. Those signings could come from England.

Celtic still have time to add to their squad, unlike teams in England. It will be interesting to see if the Hoops can take advantage of this situation over the next month.
