Neil Lennon has put a timescale on some potential new Celtic signings ahead of the new season.
The Hoops jet out to their usual pre-season camp in Austria in the coming days and Lennon hopes a few new signings will be with them.
The Northern Irishman spoke to the press on Friday and revealed that the club is looking to recruit in a number of positions.
“We’re hoping to get a few more in, hopefully, to join us in the camp in Austria. We’re looking in three or four areas and we know the areas where we need to strengthen.”
Important period
It would be really good if the club could get some new recruits in time for them to play a part in our Austrian tour. The importance of that early season period cannot be underestimated. Lennon will be looking to get some new ideas across to the players and we may see Celtic adopt a new system to previous years.
There will be very little bedding in time for the players this summer with a frantic start to the season in the shape of European qualifiers. It is crucial that any new signings get familiar with their new teammates and the best place for that to happen is in a training camp.
It is refreshing to see Lennon confident about getting some new guys in too. He would likely not have spoken about being hopeful had Celtic not had some transfer dealings going on.
The public nature of the David Turnbull signing has been very unlike Celtic. It will be interesting to see if the club has any more subtle deals tucked under their sleeves.
