Eboue Kouassi hasn’t had the best of careers at Celtic so far. The midfielder was signed in January 2017 from Krasnodar. But he has failed to impose himself at the club for a variety of reasons.
Indeed, at one stage he looked certain to leave the Hoops. The Scottish Sun reported in August that the Hoops were willing to let the player, who they paid £3million for, leave on loan in the summer transfer window.
Injury ended season
That didn’t happen, and he ended up getting a brief run in the team due to injuries, until a cruciate ligament injury ended his season.
Kouassi has made only 22 appearances for the Hoops in his two years at the club, which is really nowhere near enough for the outlay spent on him.
Guidance and advice
But now there is someone at the club who can give him guidance and advice. Interim boss Neil Lennon.
Lennon is the ideal candidate to help Kouassi. Both men play in similar positions. Tough tackling defensive midfielders. If Lennon is able to show Kouassi how to dominate a game, then he could have a future at the club.
Of course, that depends of Lennon getting the Celtic manager’s role on a permanent basis. And also on Kouassi keeping himself fit. But Lennon is more than capable of getting the best out of the midfielder. If he does, Celtic could have the long-term replacement to Scott Brown in their hands.
