Neil Lennon is relishing the pressure at Celtic and he’s right to feel confident

Celtic manager Neil Lennon refuses to fear any pressure from Rangers, despite the Ibrox side staying so close to us at the top of the table this season, BBC Scotland report.

Lennon’s Bhoys superbly routed Livingston 4-0 at Celtic Park on Saturday.

It was an important win not only to ensure the three points but also because they are the last team to beat us in any competition. Our winning run has been stretched to eight games.

After the match, the popular manager was quizzed about the pressure of a potential title challenge from Steven Gerrard’s side this season, who travel to Hamilton later today.

However, Lennon was in confident mood, noting how well his side are performing right now and insisting they are relishing the competition.

As quoted by BBC Scotland, he said: “You either relish it or fear it. So relish it. It’s great. Maybe it’s something new for some of the players but I think they are taking on the challenge well and I think the fans are enjoying it as well.

“There will be anxious moments as we go along. There will be a dip but, at the minute, we are in a very strong position and playing brilliantly.

“We know there can be a below-par performance around the corner but we are prepared for that as well. Psychologically that is a good win for us. You get 24 hours to enjoy it and see what the [Rangers] result brings and you move on to the next one.”

Pole position

Although our city rivals have undoubtedly done well to put derby defeat behind them and stay in touch with our exceptional form, Celtic remain the red hot favourites to lift the title.

We have demonstrated we have the quality and mentality to win multiple trophies in succession while there are still question marks about Gerrard’s team to reach those heights over the course of a whole season.

Our upcoming schedule in December is brutal, but if we can continue in the manner we have been then we should have another League Cup to our name.

There’s also the potential of being six points clear come the end of the year, considering we play one more game than them in the Scottish Premiership.

Lennon’s comments reflect all this while acknowledging there are big challenges ahead. It’s exactly the kind of thing I want to be hearing from him when the media probe him on a title challenge.
