Celtic are about to return to Europa League action this week. The game against Lazio will be a huge encounter, played at a sold out Celtic Park.
However, in the list of priorities for Celtic this season, the Europa League has to come behind winning the league and clinching nine in a row.
That is a stance than has been confirmed by Neil Lennon in a recent interview on the Celtic YouTube channel.
“That will remain the same”

“The league is the priority, no question about that, and that will remain the same right up until the end of May” he said.
Lennon’s thoughts will be echoed by the vast majority of the Celtic support. There is no doubt that the Europa League tie against Lazio will be a glamorous occasion. It would be a boost to Celtic’s profile if the Hoops were to record a rare win over an Italian team.
League fixture more important than Europa League tie?

However, in the grand scheme of things, winning the league has to come first. That is why for many fans, the league fixture against Aberdeen is perhaps on Sunday is perhaps more important than the game against Lazio.
That is not to suggest that the Hoops will not be trying their very best against Lazio. Indeed, a win in that game will take the Hoops to the verge of Europa League qualification.
But the league will always be the top priority. Lennon’s comments leave no doubt about that. It promises to be another exciting week for Celtic, one that hopefully ends with two wins in two competitions. Hopefully the week ends with Celtic still at the top of the league, that is what the Hoops support will want.
