Celtic boss Neil Lennon has made a telling comment about what the recent 2-0 win over Rangers at Ibrox meant to him.

The Hoops boss revealed that the win was ‘up there’ with the best of his career.

“Yeah, it’s up there. I’m telling you, it’s up there for many, many reasons” Lennon said, as reported by the Scottish Sun.

“We knew we would have bad moments in the game or a period of being under pressure but I thought we handled it all very, very comfortably.”

Celtic seemed to go into the game as underdogs in the eyes of many. That is odd when you consider that the Hoops have won the last eight titles in a row.

However, the Hoops boss has often thrived in proving the doubters wrong. That was certainly the case with the win at Ibrox.

When you add in the criticism that the Hoops boss faced following Celtic’s exit from the Champions League at the hands of Cluj then the triumph at Ibrox must have felt like vindication to the Hoops boss.

However, Lennon will not be resting on his laurels.

With the Hoops back in Europa League action following the winter break, he knows that he will once more be under pressure to get results.

However, it has been a great start to the domestic season at least for the Hoops boss. He deserved to take all the credit for masterminding such a notable win.
