Neil Lennon paid attention to the absent Green Brigade in his Celtic TV interview following our history making 3-1 win over Rennes last night.
Goals from Scottish trio Lewis Morgan, Ryan Christie and Mikey Johnston did the damage as we broke the ten points barrier and finished top of our group – both for the first time.

Most of the pre-match talk was dominated by news that the Green Brigade wouldn’t be in place at the game after the club banned them from the fixture following some problems in recent months.
Lennon stayed silent on the issue in the lead up to the match but he was keen to point out that the section were missed during the Rennes clash, while he also praised the Celtic support that were in attendance.
“I thought the fans were outstanding tonight,” he said on the official Celtic YouTube channel. “I thought the atmosphere was brilliant despite not having some of our friends, who we missed.

“But the rest of the stadium was bouncing at times and that’s what European football brings to Celtic, and that’s what the fans bring to it. The connection the players feel off that is special.
“I’m proud of the 100% home record in the group. That was essential to qualify.”

Lennon clearly wants the Green Brigade back in place
It’s interesting to see Lennon acting almost as a peacemaker in the goings-on at the club. The Northern Irishman has a foot in both camps – he loves the supporters but also understands the positive message the club must send out.
There’s such a good feeling around the club at the moment, given the way the team is playing, and it would be a shame for that be spoiled by off-field matters.
Hopefully the Green Brigade situation can be sorted as soon as possible with so many big games soon to be on the horizon.
