Neil Lennon has named his Celtic team to take on Clyde at Broadwood in the Scottish Cup this afternoon, as per the club’s official website.
The full match squad is as follows:
Starting XI – Bain; Bauer, Jullien, Ajer, Bolingoli; Brown, Ntcham, Christie; Forrest, Klimala, Elyounoussi.
Substitutes – Forster, Taylor, Griffiths, Bayo, Soro, Hayes, Shved.
The match could be seen as a welcome break from the pressures of the ongoing Scottish Premiership title race but knowing Lennon he’ll expecting just as much focus from his team today.
The Hoops boss played Clyde in 2006 when they knocked us out of the competition and having also been on the receiving end of other cup shocks as a Celtic manager, he’ll know full well the dangers of today’s fixture.
Although we’ve been playing very consistently this season the concept of a quadruple-treble hasn’t really been discussed much but it’s very much a possibility and today could be another big step towards it.
Lennon has named a strong, albeit rotated, eleven for the fixture.
New signing Patryk Klimala starts for the very first time after fleeting substitute appearances while fellow January arrival Ismaila Soro has been named on the bench.
The manager has also given crucial game time to Ryan Christie and Mohamed Elyounoussi from the start after injury issues in recent months.
Christie has been coming off the bench recently but Elyounoussi hasn’t played since December 8th.
Elsewhere Scott Bain comes into the team after a long absence from action, giving Fraser Forster a rest.
Callum McGregor and Odsonne Edouard have also been given the day off after their heroics against Motherwell.
There’s even a rare sighting of Marian Shved, who makes the matchday 18.
These fans are delighted with the team news, taking to Twitter to share their thoughts…
