Celtic manager Neil Lennon claims that he would never have been able to score the winning goal against Aberdeen like Kristoffer Ajer did in his playing days, the official Celtic website reports.
The Hoops’ 2-1 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie was clinched with a goal that not many people would have expected to see score the winner.
The player who scored the winning goal was Kristoffer Ajer.
He ran forward from defence and found himself in tons of space. Ajer then took a pass from James Forrest and hammered the ball into the back of the net.
One man who was pleased with the goal unsurprisingly, was Hoops boss Neil Lennon.

Lennon has a brilliant reaction to the goal. He doubted he would have emulated the desire shown by Ajer to find the back of the net back in his playing days.
“Wouldn’t have got that far up the pitch”
“Would I have been proud of that in my playing days? Yes! But I probably wouldn’t have got that far up the pitch. Kris’ run was incredible, as was his desire to get there. He’s ate up 60, maybe 70 yards to get into that position” Lennon said, as quoted by the official Celtic website.
It really was terrific play by Ajer to get himself forward when the Hoops were in need of a winning goal.
Credit for taking matters into his own hands
Celtic were struggling to create chances in the game. Therefore, credit must be given to Ajer. He took matters into his own hands and scoring the goal that clinched the three points.

As for Lennon talking about his playing days, he only scored three goals for the Hoops.
So, it is probably true that he would have probably not found himself in the penalty area.
Would he have scored the chance that Ajer took with some aplomb? Who can say. However, the most important thing for the Hoops is that Ajer did score, and Celtic picked up a vital win.
