Celtic boss Neil Lennon has disclosed that Dermot Desmond wasn’t too impressed with the Hoops’ recent performance in the 5-0 win over Ross County, the Glasgow Times reports.
The Hoops manager confirmed that he spoke to Desmond after the game. Celtic’s major shareholder wasn’t satisfied with what he saw.
“We talk at length the day before a game, or we analyse the game now and again” Lennon said, as quoted by the Glasgow Times.
“We didn’t shy away from it”
“He made it clear, and we didn’t shy away from it, that he didn’t think the performance against Ross County was good. If you are open and honest with Dermot and straight, you get rewarded for that” Lennon concluded.
Desmond’s opinion on the game seems to be a little harsh. Okay, Celtic weren’t at their very best on the day. Vasilis Barkas had to make a few good saves.

However, it was still a 5-0 win, coming on the back of a week when the majority of the squad was away on international duty.

Still, that shows the standards that Desmond has for Celtic. He wants the Hoops to be at their very best in every game.
Frequency of discussions is interesting
One interesting aspect of Lennon’s comments to take note of are the frequency of his and Desmond’s discussions. The fact that the duo talk the day before a game is perhaps unexpected. After all, Desmond isn’t always at all of Celtic’s games.

However, that shows how much interest he takes in the club. He likes to keep his finger on the pulse of what is going on at Celtic, which is understandable. After all, he is the main shareholder at the club.
Hopefully if the duo talk after Celtic’s match against Livingston, Desmond is giving the Hoops boss plenty of praise for a two goal win which has taken the Hoops back to the top of the league.
After what was an up and down start to the season, Lennon will have earned that credit for Desmond.
