Neil Lennon has paid a huge compliment to under-fire Celtic skipper Scott Brown.
Brown has been hit with an SFA disciplinary charge for incidents after last week’s Glasgow derby. However, Lennon has firmly defended the player.
Indeed, he has praised him for showing coolness under pressure.
“Nothing to defend himself for”

“Scott Brown has nothing to defend himself for” Lennon told the Daily Record.
“His treatment on the pitch was nothing short of disgraceful. He’s been elbowed, he’s been hit in the face, but he takes it, he stands up to it, and he comes back for more. It’s the character of the man.”

It is no shock to see Lennon vehemently defend his captain. Brown, after all, captained the Hoops during Lennon’s first spell as Celtic manager.
Words underline player’s importance to club
However, these words are very complimentary to Brown, and they underline what he represents to Celtic at the moment.

Despite being in the closing stages of his career, Brown is arguably the most important player at Celtic. You only have to look at how he orchestrated the proceedings in last week’s derby victory.
Lennon knows that Brown is a winner and that if he is suspended for any matches the Hoops will miss him. That could be another reason for his words.
Lennon and Brown seem to be cut from the same cloth. Both midfield battlers, who like to be on top. Lennon probably sees a lot of himself in Brown, so it is little wonder that he has given him such a compliment.
