Neil Lennon has responded to Charlie Nicholas after the former Celtic forward suggested the club had a bad transfer window, STV journalist Raman Bhardwaj reports.
Nicholas had his usual anti-Celtic rant in the Scottish Daily Express (06/10 print edition, page 59) today, stating: “I said Celtic would go cheap in their pursuit of a left-back. I knew they wouldn’t spend money on a defender that Neil Lennon has been ever so patient for.
“I don’t think Lennon has been given much of a helping hand, if I am being honest.
“He had to work double time to get anything out of so-called wealthy Celtic. I’d imagine he’ll be pretty annoyed this morning. I am sure he will put on a brave face but I don’t think he will have got anything close to what he was looking for.”

However, Lennon has hit back.
As reported by Bhardwaj, the Bhoys boss said: “If we had signed Messi and Ronaldo, Charlie still would have found fault with it. He’s been negative about the club for years. Charlie doesn’t think for me, he doesn’t speak for me.”
It’s a brilliant response from Lennon.
Celtic have had a fantastic window, adding six high-quality players to the first-team squad that can immediately compete for places.
Diego Laxalt is not just a cheap option. He’s a recognised international star with 170 Serie A appearances, who has started in a World Cup quarter-final.
Hardly the profile of a bargain bin signing.

This tiresome punditry has clearly gotten on the manager’s nerves.
Perhaps Kris Commons might be next in his sights. He’s another former player that supporters have grown tired of lately because of his outspoken negative views.
Hopefully Lennon’s team can shut Nicholas up on the pitch when we face Rangers next weekend.
