Neil Lennon has hinted that Craig Gordon could get further opportunities to impress if Celtic get past Partick Thistle.
The Hoops go for 29 cup wins in a row at Parkhead on Wednesday evening, and Gordon will be back in goals for the fixture. On Tuesday, Lennon commented that the former Scotland cap “deserved” his chance to play.

And he also told press that he could keep playing the veteran in the potential showpiece Hampden games.
“You never say ‘right you’re playing in the next round’ but there might be a good chance that he (Gordon) gets that opportunity again should we progress.” (Official Celtic YouTube channel, 6 mins)

It will be interesting to see what Lennon does with Gordon
Playing your second choice goalkeeper in the cup seems to be the in-thing for managers to do. The benefits are that you keep your second choice hungry, and can also give your first choice a well needed rest.
The negative is that you are effectively weakening your side for cup matches. Lennon clearly feels Fraser Forster is the best goalkeeper at the club so for him not to play him in our biggest cup matches with trophies on the line would be interesting.

Let’s face it, we should be okay against Partick Thistle. But if we face Aberdeen or Rangers at Hampden, it could be a different story.
The argument is that Scott Bain played the majority of our cup games last season and we still got a clean sweep of trophies. But it will be interesting to see if Lennon follows suit this year.
It’s in fashion after all.
