Celtic boss Neil Lennon is strongly in favour of bringing the controversial technology VAR to Scottish football.

The technology has been in the news this week, after Manchester United were awarded a late penalty against PSG in the Champions League.

Lennon told Celtic’s official Twitter account that introducing the technology would be ‘great’.

“All in agreement”

” I think we’re all in agreement up here on that. It just depends as different countries use it differently” he said.

The big question is when will the technology be introduced in Scottish football? The BBC claimed in January that it would take up to a year for training and testing to be up to standards.

It will be interesting to see Lennon’s reaction should a VAR decision go against Celtic once the technology is introduced.

He would not have been happy if the penalty awarded against PSG was awarded against Celtic. It looked very soft, and is yet another example of why VAR is not the cure for football’s ills many think it will be.

Even when the technology is introduced, there will still be refereeing errors and mistakes that teams will have to deal with.

Still, Lennon seems determined that the new system should be introduced into the Scottish game. No doubt the first game where it is introduced will be a huge occasion. What’s the odds Celtic will be involved – quite high.
