Neil Lennon was caught in hysterics after Kris Boyd issued a “be afraid” warning following a Rangers win last night.

The Ibrox hero had been working alongside Celtic’s former player and manager from Pittodrie as the Hoops dispatched of the Dons in a narrow, but well fought victory.

It was a result which moved Celts seven points clear of Aberdeen following their strong start to the campaign while also maintaining the 11 point lead over Rangers they had already built.

Reo Hatate’s goal was the difference on a difficult evening for the visitors but all that mattered was the win and the points for Brendan Rodgers‘ troops.

Across the country in Glasgow, Rangers had swept Kilmarnock aside in a convincing 6-0 hammering of Derek McInnes’ strugglers.

It was a rather unexpected result and performance from the Light Blues which would have shocked even the most ardent of supporters.

Boyd, though, might have been in a good mood from his beloved club’s margin of victory.

But the retired striker could still hardly hide his laugh as he warned the Celtic panel – consisting of Lennon and Jonny Hayes – that his old club were ready to fight.

Sky Sports’ presenter, Eilidh Barbour, explained how it had been a ‘big night’ at the top of the Scottish Premiership with the leading three clubs in action on the same evening.

And Boyd couldn’t resist a jokey response.

He responded: “Be afraid, Rangers are back”, to which Lennon threw his head back and laughed.

Barbour then hit back with: “We’ll see on Sunday,” to which Boyd again added: “I’m looking forward to it.”

What is Celtic’s schedule before the Premier Sports Cup Final vs Rangers

Gers are away from home this weekend as they take on Ross County in Dingwall who will surely be desperate to improve on their recent outing in Glasgow where Celts demolished them 5-0.

Celtic, meanwhile, host Hibs this coming weekend before travelling to square off against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.

Then comes the acid test of the Premier Sports Cup Final on December 15 between both sides of the Glasgow divide.
