Tom Rogic has got “a great chance of playing” tonight against Copenhagen according to Neil Lennon.
The Celtic boss has a bit of a headache in midfielder for the Europa League clash, with Olivier Ntcham missing through injury and Ryan Christie suspended from the first leg.
That means the Hoops boss is in dire need of creativity for the Celtic Park meeting, and that means Rogic could be thrust back into the limelight.
The Aussie playmaker has had precious little European football as of late.
He’s played just 26 minutes all in – after coming on as a substitute in the home win over Lazio.
But, despite that, Lennon has been talking him up in the press ahead of the big game, and discussing his chances of starting the match.
“He’s got a great chance of playing,” Lennon told the Daily Record.
“I thought he played really well at the weekend. He’s a top player when he’s on form.
“He’s just had an ongoing issue with his knee and with the form of some other players he’s found it difficult to get regular game time.
“He’s champing at the bit to play. He is certainly in our thoughts.
“He’s a great lad. He’s very, very talented and we’ll need a bit of creativity tomorrow, maybe someone to unlock the door and Tom’s that type of player who can do that.”
Lennon will know what Rogic can do
You just get the feeling that tonight may be Tom Rogic’s night.
The mercurial talent has arrived on the big occasion so many times for us. From ‘Invincible’ treble winning goals, to strikes at Ibrox and in European clashes – he usually knows when to turn up.
But those great memories all seem a little while ago, and it’s probably about time he created some new ones.
The loss of both Christie and Ntcham from the team is certainly a blow but our immense strength in depth means that a player like Rogic can still come in.
He looked pretty good against Kilmarnock on Sunday, so hopefully that, and the fact this is such a big game, can light a fire under his belly and we can see the old Rogic.
It’s a massive night. We may need some extra inspiration from somewhere.
