Celtic manager Neil Lennon has told fans to enjoy the feeling of winning another title in the here and now. The Hoops secured their eighth title in a row with an emphatic 3-0 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie.
It’s also their eighth successive tournament win in a row while number nine may only be three weeks away. Though as talk continues to move to the future, and speculation intensifies, Lennon wants to live in the moment.

“We need to take some time, even the supporters, to take stock and enjoy the moment”, he told Four Four Two. “This is eight titles, it has not been done for a very long time.
“So it is a special group of players and the fans should engage in that and not think about nine and 10.
“Just enjoy the moment and then look forward to next week, going there (Ibrox) as champions and the cup final as well.”

Taking it for granted
Lennon raises a pertinent point. It is all too easy to take success for granted in a glory period like the one we are currently experiencing. If the unthinkable were to happen and we lost the league next season then this current achievement would still be celebrated in future decades.

Celtic have won as many titles in the last eight seasons than we did in the previous twenty to that. We are living in times rarely experienced by a football fan. It’s time to take stock and look back at the recent achievements rather than forecasting what the future may bring.
We are the champions again, and that should never be taken for granted.
