Celtic look to be slowly putting their malaise behind them after recording important back-to-back victories over Hibernian and St Mirren.

Brendan Rodgers’ men have now recorded eight wins in nine across all competitions, with the only exception being a draw at Pittodrie earlier this month.

Yesterday, the Bhoys put in a professional performance at the SMiSA Stadium to progress into the quarter-final of the Scottish Cup, courtesy of strikes from Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda.

On the day, St Mirren also created their fair share of opportunities; however, veteran goalkeeper Joe Hart was on hand to quell any advances from the home side, commanding his box well and giving the visitors a solid base to build from deep.

Now, Celtic have a chance to book a place at Hampden for the first time this campaign if they can see off Livingston at Parkhead on the weekend of March 9th.

Hitting form at a decent time, the Hoops will hope to continue their positive run this weekend against Kilmarnock at home in the Scottish Premiership.

Neil Lennon thinks Joe Hart has been ‘brilliant’ for Celtic recently

Former Celtic manager Neil Lennon was on punditry duties yesterday as his old side eliminated St Mirren and singled out former England international Hart for special praise following his exploits in recent matches.

The 52-year-old stated [Live on Viaplay]: “Joe Hart has been brilliant, certainly since we came back after the break. Aberdeen, big saves at Hibs and that was another tremendous save at a really crucial time. He’s really looking after the team at the minute with his experience and his class.

“You can see him cajoling the centre-halves and talking to his fullbacks even at the set play towards the end, he really organises his defence and he’s really shown as experience.

“He doesn’t get a lot of credit because he doesn’t really have a lot to do at times. He’s really stood up in the last three or four games and shown his qualities.”

Joe Hart is proving his worth at Celtic

Hart is an experienced figure who has played at the highest level; however, he hasn’t been immune to criticism during his time at Celtic either.

The 36-year-old has made 33 appearances in all competitions this term, conceding 32 goals and keeping 13 clean sheets, per Transfermarkt.

His long-term future at Parkhead may remain unclear, though he certainly seems like a man keen to prove he can be a pivotal player as the Bhoys chase a domestic double.
