Celtic boss Neil Lennon has disclosed that he is prepared to mix it up when it comes to tactics and formations to ensure that Celtic stay ahead of the rest in Scottish football.
The Hoops manager has admitted that he wants to improve on the performances of last season. To that end, he is willing to on occasion move to three at the back or even play two strikers.
“Create more excitement”

“I want us to create more excitement and goal chances, rather than control the game passively. I want us to be more purposeful in possession” he said, as reported by the Evening Times.
“There will be times when I want to go with two strikers, there’s no question about that. Maybe at different times, we will use different systems against certain opposition.”

Change from previous manager
Should Lennon do this in the season ahead, it will mark a change from the Brendan Rodgers era.
Rodgers almost always played one striker and four at the back. Perhaps Lennon hopes that changing the formation on occasion will lead to more goals and attacking football.

It should be remembered that Celtic scored fewer goals than Rangers in the league last season. That is a situation that Lennon will not want to repeat.
If changing the formation leads to more goals being scored, it is an idea that will be supported by the Celtic support.
