Neil Lennon would take Ciro Immobile at Celtic

Celtic manager Neil Lennon would sign Ciro Immobile from Lazio if he could.

The Irishman was asked which player he would take from the Italian giants. Unsurprisingly, the top scorer in Serie A is his choice and everyone can see why.

Nevertheless, he is a foe tonight and the team and management must be aware of his danger.

The 29-year-old is on high stock following his fantastic beginning to the season. Immobile is on 13 goals in 11 Serie A matches with four assists for good measure.

He didn’t get his goal from a sub appearance at Celtic Park, but he was unlucky. Lennon knows how dangerous Immobile is, and would take him from the Lazio side.

He told last night’s press conference: “They are a great team, they come from an important victory at San Siro.

“Which player would I take away from Lazio? Certainly Immobile, but the Lazio team is full of talented players.”

Unfortunately, Immobile is perhaps a little outside Lennon’s price range, but he can dream.

Lennon should be more concerned about stopping him as he could be the difference between getting something from the game. However, if the defence can keep him quiet for a second game, then it shows how strong it’s become.

One man the Italian doesn’t have to worry about

Immobile himself will be aware that the Hoops defence has already done their job against him. He will be out to prove that he can continue his fantastic run of form against the Glaswegian back four. That said, it will not be the same back line that he was up against at Celtic Park two weeks ago.

Lennon told the press conference that left-back Boli Bolingoli didn’t travel to Rome yesterday. The Belgian defender didn’t make it out for the second half in the League Cup semi-final against Hibs.

The likes of Jonny Hayes or Greg Taylor will get their big opportunity to play in his place. For the sake of keeping everything tight as possible, Taylor should be getting the nod ahead of the Irishman.
