Celtic boss Neil Lennon has made a comment about a recent Hoops signing which may concern the Hoops support.
The Hoops manager has revealed that Boli Bolingoli is lacking some confidence.
“I’m sure there’s more to come”
“Bolingoli is lacking a bit of confidence, but he’s training well, so I’m sure there’s more to come from him” Lennon said, as reported by the Scottish Sun.
That will worry the Hoops support that the player seems to be lacking confidence after only being at the club for a short period.
It could also explain why Bolingoli was dropped for the recent game against Cluj. Maybe Lennon felt that the player wouldn’t have been at his best in the Champions League qualifier.
Dropping player for big game was a mistake
That turned out to be a mistake if that is the case. Bolingoli’s replacement, Callum McGregor, didn’t have the best of games in the 4-3 defeat.
The next test for the player will come against AIK in the Europa League qualifiers. Should he turn in a good performance, that can only improve his confidence levels.
Bolingoli is still at the very start of his Celtic career. The manager seems to have confidence in him that he will get over this blip in his form.
However, it has to be a concern that a player that the Hoops spent big money on is suffering from low confidence so soon into his Hoops career.
Hopefully a good performance against AIK will begin to change that.
