Neil Lennon got through Celtic’s victory over Dundee through the skin of his teeth.
Again, a late winner was required to get all three points after another dire and sluggish performance.
The Irishman appears to know at full time where things went wrong, as do the rest of us.
However, he is the one paid to address these issues before they raise their heads.
Lennon high ball tactic doesn’t work
One thing the interim boss got very wrong when chasing the goal was to go route one.

Constant balls were being lobbed into the box with Darren O’Dea and co simply clearing them.
They are a bigger unit and O’Dea is an experienced defender, especially at this level.
The Hoops aren’t one for scoring from headers or high crosses or any set-pieces for that matter.
With only James Forrest and Scott Sinclair joining Odsonne Edouard in the box, the high balls into the box were just being eaten up as the wingers don’t have aerial prowess.
Edouard is showing more and more that he isn’t the number nine the fans want as he likes to drop deeper and be a creative outlet too – that’s how he scored.

Lennon needs to realise with the team that played the game out at Dens, the ball is best on the deck.
Substitutions at fault
Another reason the long ball tactic failed was because of the personnel on the field at that time.
I’ll commend him for bringing on Jonny Hayes, he was a bright spark and did his job amicably.

However, his crosses into the box weren’t being attacked properly and was lacking a finisher at the end.
Lennon made a massive mistake introducing Timothy Weah instead of Vakoun Issouf Bayo too.
Weah is too similar to the other wingers, he’s quick and direct but Celtic weren’t playing that way.
Instead, the Ivorian would be giving the defenders more to think about as he does have a header in him.
This game will be a learning curve for Lennon, but if this continues, then it will definitely be curtains for him.
