New Celtic recruit Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo has been speaking about an altercation he had with Alfredo Morelos last year.

The Belgian was wearing the green and white of Rapid Vienna when he clashed with the Gers man during their Europa League clash back in December.

Rapid won the match 1-0 to secure Europa League progression at the expense of Steven Gerrard’s men. The incident, near the end of the game, was recently flagged up after Bolingoli-Mbombo completed his Parkhead move.

The Daily Record have some quotes from the 24-year-old left-back as he looked back on the incident.

He said: “That I remember, yes. Some things like this can always happen in football, but it was nothing bad at all.

“I didn’t want to do it because he was a Rangers player or anything like that.

“It’s just that things like this can happen on the pitch. It was just heat of the moment.”

Unlike Morelos, Bolingoli-Mbombo can control himself

While the incident is completely normal in football, it does show that our new man has a fierce side. Tempers can run high in big football matches and it’s good to know that the Belgian won’t settle for being second best.

However, he does seem to be able to keep a lid on that passion. Unlike his Ibrox adversary, Bolingoli-Mbombo can control himself. He’s only been sent off once in his career to date – whilst playing for Rapid in November 2017.

It will be interesting to see how he gets on against Rangers and Morelos this coming season. Things could soon get tasty again.
