"New contract"; Celtic fans laud birthday Bhoy Kristoffer Ajer
Celtic fans love Kristoffer Ajer.
And who wouldn’t? Fine, there are critics to suggest he can’t defend in the air, but his progress at the club has been immense. At 23 (today!), he’s already established himself as our stand-out centre-back, with an ever-evolving game. In fact, over recent weeks, he’s become an attacking threat.
You know how Celtic’s birthday greetings rarely go well on social media? Even the blameless Stevie Woods’ birthday was greeted with dismay. It’s been a bad scene, with the club being referred to as Hallmark FC by cynical supporters. In the midst of a chaotic season, the usual plaudits for players current and departed on their birthday has often been met with disdain.
Not Kristoffer Ajer, though. Because people love Kristoffer Ajer.
So, instead of the usual scowls, there was admiration aplenty for the big Norwegian centre-back. Calls for contract extensions were the main theme of interactions, with many supporters desperate to keep ahold of the Norway international.
Celtic fans genuinely wish Kristoffer Ajer a happy birthday
Got to tell you, it’s odd reading a “happy birthday” tweet from the club in 20-21 with superlatives in the replies. And believe me, there are already so many.
A particular theme emerged. See if you can spot it.

It’s beautiful, is it not? And I, for one, welcome this new positivity on social media. Give Ajer a new contract for his birthday, Celtic. It’s the right call.
