The January transfer window is still two months away from opening and already Celtic are being linked to players Brendan Rodgers may want to strengthen his side further.

Rodgers opened up the chequebook in the summer and made Celtic spend £20m on Adam Idah and Arne Engels to bolster the team for the domestic and European campaigns.

And that’s before we talk about splashing out a further £10m on Paulo Bernardo, Luke McCowan and Auston Trusty.

As it seems that Rodgers looks set to continue his spending in January, Newcastle are now expressing an interest in a youngster Celtic was linked to back in September.

Newcastle want Celtic target Bazoumana Toure

67 Hail Hail discussed last month how Celtic are ‘seriously interested’ in young Hammarby forward Bazoumana Toure.

The Swedish side is said to value the 18-year-old at €10m (£8.32m) but it seems now that Celtic face competition for the Ivorian from Newcastle according to an exclusive report from TBR Football.

As well as Newcastle, the report says a host of English clubs including Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, West Ham and Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur are all keeping tabs on the youngster.

Described as a ‘very interesting and promising talent‘ by Fabrizio Romano, Toure looks like he is set to have a bright future in the game at such an early age.

Bazoumana Toure’s stats and Celtic fit

Toure has been in excellent form this season for Allsvenskan side, Hammarby. In 22 appearances the young winger has scored nine goals, which includes a double scored at the weekend (watch below) and created four to help his side reach a lofty second place in the league.

Toure has also made one appearance in the CAF Champions League (formerly African Cup of Champions Clubs) for his previous club, ASEC Mimosa.

Toure is clearly a talented player and with the amount of attention he is attracting, should Celtic want to get him in January they appear to face fierce competition for his signature.
