“Next week or so”; Celtic SLO believes major decision is on its way

Weeks like this, you have to feel sorry for Celtic SLO John Paul Taylor.

Nobody’s inbox will be as heaving when the club are underperforming and causing PR mayhem at every turn. Incoming US President Joe Biden would surely wince at Taylor’s daily emails.

A reliable figure at the club, and the key man for supporter liaisons, Taylor has one hell of a job. Yet, he’s always quick to offer an update on goings-on at Celtic, and today was no different.

Responding to a question about the hallowed “managerial review” taking place at the club, Taylor said: “As far as I’m aware it was planned to provide an update on the review in the next week or so”.

Celtic SLO gives concrete evidence board is doing something

Fair play again to Taylor. He must have to put up with a barrage of enquiries day-in, day-out. Yet, his love for the club is beyond question, and he does an excellent job.

Only this morning, we wondered aloud what the board were up to. Now, we have the most concrete evidence that Desmond, Lawwell, Bankier and co. are going to do… well, something.

It’s still entirely possible that the Celtic hierarchy will just let Lennon run down his contract. The season’s done, right? From their perspective, they’d rather save money where they can.

Putting the U-18s on furlough is a clear example of that.

Nevertheless, it’s welcome news for so many of the Celtic faithful. While nobody relishes Lennon’s struggles, some clichés are true. Nobody is bigger than the club. While the Bhoys struggle, there has to be accountability.

And so, here we are. The next “week or so” will either be a historic chapter in the club’s modern history, or a dismal denial of the reality Celtic find themselves in.

Still, you have to wonder: what’s taken the board so long? They have access to Pass to Paradise, right?
