Celtic are preparing to take on Motherwell at Fir Park this weekend and Nicolas Kuhn will be keen to continue his excellent early season form in Lanarkshire.

After working his way into Brendan Rodgers’ plans last term, the German winger has gone on to register six goals and eight assists in his opening 13 appearances this campaign.

Having to fine-tune his game on Wednesday night, Nicolas Kuhn played a leading role in Celtic’s heroic Champions League draw with Atalanta, tracking back at will to help out Alistair Johnston down the right flank.

Nevertheless, the January signing is known for his ingenuity on the right flank for the Bhoys, which he will hope to express at Fir Park on Sunday as his side look to maintain their slot at the Scottish Premiership summit.

Looking ahead to the clash, Kuhn has evaluated the different challenge the Steelmen will pose compared to Celtic’s exploits on Italian shores.

Nicolas Kuhn on facing Motherwell after Celtic’s Atalanta result

Speaking ahead of Celtic’s trip to face Motherwell, Kuhn has acknowledged the difference in off-ball work between their clash against Atalanta in midweek and what they will face on Sunday. However, his main focus will be keeping their momentum going at Fir Park.

He explained: “No, I think we’re normally used to having the ball a lot (domestically); that is what we normally do. For us, it was more difficult to be compact and defend much more than we’re used to, but we did a good job, and hopefully, we can attack a bit more again (against Motherwell).”

Later, he continued: “Yeah, 100%, I think we showed we can defend much better than we did against Dortmund, I think, also the coach said after the game: we have to stay a little bit calm with the ball when we have it.

“I think it was possible to create more chances, and I think it’s possible to get more than a point (in future matches).”

Nicolas Kuhn will be key for Celtic against Motherwell

Make no mistake, Kuhn is arguably Celtic’s greatest attacking threat at present, based off his statistics this term in green and white.

Per stat-trackers Fotmob, the former Ajax man has created 17 chances and completed 15 dribbles on league duty, illustrating his capacity to provide for others with a sense of regularity.

Stuart Kettlewell’s side will provide a stiff test of the champions’ credentials, but you would back Kuhn to be the difference maker come the full-time whistle in the event of a tight affair.

Celtic will need to ensure they don’t have any semblance of a post-European night hangover kicking in on Sunday, so it is up to their leading lights to ensure three points are claimed.
