Nicolas Kuhn has pinpointed one player that should Celtic sign this summer it would make him ‘very happy’.

The German winger was brought to Celtic by Brendan Rodgers in the January transfer window to bolster the defence of the title.

After making 18 appearances for the club, Kuhn scored three and created three with his first goal coming in the 1-1 debut draw with Aberdeen up at Pittodrie.

Speaking about his time at the club, Kuhn was asked about the summer links with Paulo Bernardo and the 24-year-old admits that was ‘close’ with the Portuguese midfielder.

Kuhn ‘would be happy’ with Paulo Bernardo Celtic return

The German winger was asked about his former Celtic teammate and the possibility of him returning to the club this summer when he said he would love to see him back at Paradise.

Kuhn said [Celtic TV], “I was quite close with Paulo [Bernarndo] also so I would be happy if he comes back.

“And he’s a great player. I think in the cup final he had also a special moment so it would be great to have him back.”

Bernardo was a very influential player for Celtic in the second half of last season. A goal in the 2-1 Parkhead win over Rangers prompted former Hoops striker, Andy Walker to label the Portuguese as ‘terrific‘.

With Bernardo’s salary said to be a sticking point and the fact that both clubs are yet to agree on a fee, it seems that this one could rumble on a little longer this summer.

At just 22, Bernardo has already proven last season that he can handle playing for Celtic in Europe and domestically and it seems that if Celtic were to make this one of their summer signings, it would please not just Kuhn but the Hoops supporters as well.
