Celtic utility man Nir Bitton has hailed the special dressing room that Neil Lennon has assembled at the club, speaking to CelticFC.net.
Bitton was again one of our better performers away to Livingston last night, following on from his impressive display against St Johnstone at the weekend.
The player started his career at Celtic Park as a midfielder, having been signed by Lennon during the manager’s first spell as boss, but often effortlessly steps into a defensive role whether as part of a back three or back four formation.
Recently he looks like a great candidate to play regularly in the team in place of teammate Jozo Simunovic.
The Israeli international has now urged the Celtic squad to keep focused and fighting on the games ahead, with silverware still on the line and hard work to do to win it.
As quoted by the club’s official website, Bitton said: “I think we played some good football against Livingston. We didn’t win the game, but we did get the equaliser in stoppage time. During the game you only concentrate on yourself and your own game. We need to stick to our game-plan and we need to win as many games as we can.
“When you play for a club like Celtic, you have to believe all the time. We’re always fighting for trophies and we have a winning mentality. We’re always on the front foot, and we’re always trying to win the game. It’s a special dressing room. Now, we focus on St Mirren at Celtic Park and we go again.”
Bitton’s comments highlight the relentless attitude amongst every squad member at Celtic right now.
Everyone is pushing with small steps towards a grand achievement.
Nine-in-a-row is in sight, something that some fans never thought they’d see in their own lifetime after Jock Stein’s stars famously achieved the feat first.
This squad is a collection of experienced winners and they all no doubt have a similar mindset to Bitton right now.
