Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton has opened up on the nature of his relationship with Hoops boss Neil Lennon. Lennon was the man who brought Bitton to Celtic originally, back in 2013.
He is pleased that Lennon has returned to manage Celtic for a second spell. He has declared that he will always appreciate the Hoops boss for bringing him to the club in the first-place.
“I’ll always be thankful”
“I’ll always be thankful to him” Bitton said, as reported by the Celtic View (Volume 55, Issue 16, Page. 14).
“He’s always very honest with me, he trusts me and I really appreciate it. It’s a two-way relationship. If you feel that the manager trusts you and he is honest with you, you’ll always give absolutely everything for him.”
Bitton has been restored to the Celtic squad on a regular basis since Lennon returned to the club for his second spell as Hoops manager.
Manager seems to trust player
Lennon must trust Bitton hugely, which is why he had no worries about playing the midfielder at centre-back in last month’s trip to Ibrox.
Lennon’s move paid off. Bitton was excellent for the Hoops up until he suffered an injury in the second-half of the game.
Bitton’s comments about Lennon show that he enjoys working with the Hoops manager. Therefore, it would not be a shock to see him sign a new contract with Celtic sooner rather than later.
His contract expires at the end of the season. However, Lennon will be eager to keep hold of a player who has always been useful to have in the squad.
