Celtic defender Nir Bitton has sent a heartfelt message to fellow Israel international Hatem Abd Elhamed following his return to action yesterday.
The defender made his Hoops comeback yesterday – featuring on the pitch for the first time since our famous away win against Lazio back in November.

A lot has happened for us since, but it seems like it’s been that way for Elhamed too, as Bitton gave an insight into his pal’s struggles in a lovely story post on his Instagram account.
Bitton wrote: “It’s been a tough few months for you but I’m happy to see you back in the pitch brother.”

Bitton and Elhamed will have Scotland on their mind
While Elhamed’s return is undoubtedly great news from a Celtic point of view, it could definitely be seen as a negative for Scotland.
Steve Clarke’s men take on Israel in less than three weeks in a crucial Euro 2020 play-off semi-final, and it looks like Elhamed is going to be fit for that one.
He and Bitton are important players for Israel as it is. But both’s knowledge of Hampden, and some of the Scottish players, is likely to see them play an even bigger role in the clash.

It’s a shame that one nationality of Celtic players will be left disappointed by the fixture.
There’s also the possibility of the winners coming up against Kristoffer Ajer and Mohammed Elyounoussi’s Norway in the final.
But that’s all for another day. For now, it’s just great to see Elhamed back in the fold at just the right time.
