No need to panic about Scott Sinclair's future at Celtic

Scott Sinclair’s Celtic future seems to be in doubt. The Scottish Sun is reporting that the Hoops attacker could leave at the end of the season on a free, if a one year contract extension is not triggered.

It would be a huge blow for the Hoops if one of their most important players left the club for nothing at the end of the season. However, the chances of that happening are slim to none.

Preoccupied with other matters

Celtic have been preoccupied with other matters recently, such as Brendan Rodgers’ departure from the club. Now that Neil Lennon is on board until the end of the season, other matters can be dealt with by the Hoops board.

That means contracts, and it seems only a matter of time before Sinclair’s deal at the club is extended.

Too important to leave

Sinclair is far too important to the Hoops to be allowed to leave on a free. He might not be playing at his very best every week, but he has already scored 17 goals this season. That’s only one behind his tally for last season.

In each of his three seasons at the club he has scored at least 17 goals, that would be very difficult to replace going forward.

Naturally Sinclair is coming towards the end of his Hoops career. He won’t be at the club for another three seasons after this one. But when it comes to his immediate future, that lies in Glasgow. Expect the winger to be at Celtic Park next season, and ignore the rumours.
