No Sunday slip up for rivals but Celtic head to derby in pole position

Celtic will head to Ibrox for a massive derby vs Rangers on April 3rd three points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

This was a big weekend of league action after a break for the Scottish Cup last week.

Celtic set the tone with a big 4-0 victory over in-form Ross County at Celtic Park yesterday. A hat-trick from Giorgos Giakoumakis brought his goal tally for the season to 12, with Daizen Maeda also on the scoresheet.

Today it was Rangers looking for the three points and they managed to scrape past bottom-placed Dundee with a late Connor Goldson goal.

With just seven matches left in the title race, every game counts, with the derbies holding extra meaning over the next six weeks or so.

The reality is though that win, lose or draw against Rangers on April 3rd, Celtic will likely still be top of the table. Thanks to +14 goal difference advantage over them, unless we’re on the receiving end of a crazy defeat at Ibrox, we’ll leave Govan top of the tree.

That’s a testament to the hard work from Ange Postecoglou and the Bhoys since the winter break. We were six points behind in January and have worked our way into pole position here.

It’s important to stay focused on that and the upward trajectory at Celtic, rather than what the other lot are up to.

If Celtic can perform like they did in the derby at Celtic Park, we have the chance of pulling off a result that really sends us on our way to silverware.

It promises to be dramatic either way.
