Josip Juranovic’s Celtic and Legia Warsaw friends and teammates have flocked to his Instagram post to hail his qualification for Qatar 2022.

The Hoops full-back was part of the Croatia side that overcame Russia 1-0 last night to confirm their spot at next year’s World Cup. The victory ensured they topped the group, finishing just a point ahead of the Russians after all 10 games.

And Josip quickly took to Instagram to give his reaction to the achievement where he would be congratulated by Joe Hart, Adam Montgomery, and many of his former Legia teammates:

Juranovic has played a key role in Zlatko Dalic’s side this season, starting in 7 of their 10 World Cup qualifying games. Interestingly, he’s been operating at right-back during his time on international duty.

Ange Postecoglou, meanwhile, has featured the former Legia man at left-back. Anthony Ralston has instead been the go-to option to play in Josip’s natural position.

But it doesn’t look to be tarnishing his international ambitions as he continues to be an entrusted figure alongside his Croatia teammates.

Josip Juranovic is World Cup bound; Croatia impress once again

The news also confirms that Juranovic won’t need to be involved in World Cup qualifying matches in March. Had Croatia finished second in the group, Josip could’ve been playing some fierce, competitive international football at a crucial time in the club season.

But it shows just how popular a figure Josip is that he’s being hailed by his former Legia teammates. You can see the respect they all have for him and what he achieved during his year in Poland.

There’s a reason he’s constantly being utilised by Dalic. He’s currently Croatia’s number one right-back and you can see how big an influence he has on their side.

That he doesn’t look out of place only goes to express just how key a figure he is for his national team. It makes you wonder when Ange is going to cave in and give Josip a role in his natural position for Celtic. It would certainly be a welcome decision.

No signs of that so far, but Juranovic appears to be a happy figure regardless. Given how much of an influence he’s having with the Hoops also, it could be the case he stays where he is for some time yet.

The next few months are certainly going to be interesting when it comes to his development.
