Norwich City have reportedly swooped in to try and land former Celtic target David Turnbull out of nowhere.
The Hoops pulled their deal from the table according to the Daily Record. Now, it looks as though Celtic aren’t even interested in continuing discussions with the Motherwell man’s representatives.
But, almost immediately, the Scottish Sun has reported that Norwich City have now met the £3million asking price for Turnbull. That could mean that the player ends up playing Premier League football this season.

The Sun believes that Norwich have been monitoring the Turnbull deal closely. With Celtic now out of the picture, they appear to be the frontrunners in any potential deal for him.
Sheffield Wednesday are also interested, but for Celtic, the saga now appears to be over. Turnbull staying at Motherwell, however, doesn’t seem too likely either.
Let’s see if Norwich have the same trouble
What will be an interesting takeaway from these discussions is whether Turnbull’s agent plays hardball again. It almost came across as if the player’s representatives just didn’t want him joining Celtic. Therefore, we’ll see how they react with an English club now interested.

Celtic had clearly decided that they were fed up being made a fool out of. It was good to see the club realise that it was only David Turnbull. The youngster is a terrific talent, but he’s also only played just over 30 senior games. It’s not the end of the world, and Celtic had a reputation to protect
It’s interesting to see English vultures swooping in after the latest development, however. Why didn’t Norwich launch a bid to speak to Turnbull when Celtic were in discussions? Or was Turnbull’s agent aware of that interest, and that’s why they were so difficult for Celtic to deal with?
Regardless of what the answer is, Celtic are now looking forward. Whether they actually move on to other midfield targets remains to be seen, but it certainly shouldn’t be a priority.

With the Champions League qualifier against FK Sarajevo kicking off in three weeks, Celtic must shift their focus on defensive reinforcements. As it stands, a centre-back partnership of Kristoffer Ajer and Jozo Simunovic is what we would have to go with. Jack Hendry and Marvin Compper would be back-up.
So it’s time to put the Turnbull stuff behind us. He looks set to make a move down south, and that’s likely exactly what his agent was after.
