Neil Lennon has made it clear that Rangers’ squad doesn’t put fear into Celtic after the sacking of Michael Beale.
In the summer, Rangers, led by the now-booted-out Michael Beale, made wholesale changes to their squad, only to get slapped 1-0 by an injury-hit Celtic team for the first Glasgow derby of the season.
That loss at Ibrox was the first major sign to Rangers that they were in big trouble because they were beaten, when at their strongest, whilst Celtic were at their weakest.
From Matt O’Riley, who has probably been the best player under Brendan Rodgers this season, to Kyogo Furuhashi, those at Parkhead have shown how it should be done in the transfer market.
That’s something Rangers have struggled with, as Neil Lennon offered a brutal response as to why they allowed Michael Beale such power in the market because, either the players ‘aren’t good enough’ or they are ‘not being coached in the right way’, as he told PLZ Soccer.
Whilst there was a lot of noise from Rangers in the summer about winning the title, it’s all turned on its head now, with the club’s recruitment at the centre of the storm.

Celtic don’t fear Rangers’ squad
On Rangers squad not putting the fear of God into you: “Certainly not from a Celtic perspective, that’s for sure,” said Lennon. “Again, you have to question. Why was Micheal put in charge of the whole recruitment process in the summer?
“I know Ross Wilson left in the summer and went to Nottingham Forest. That’s a vacancy that should have been filled. It’s one of the most important parts of your management.
“Maybe they have given Michael the leeway. You bring in who you want. They have spent a few quid. They have backed the manager. But they aren’t good enough. Or they’re not being coached in the right way.”

Double-figure lead
As of this moment, it’s St Mirren who are proving to be a challenge for the Bhoys, with four points separating the two.
That should start to extend in the coming weeks, as should Celtic’s seven-point lead over Rangers.
By the time the duo meet near the end of the year, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the lead is double figures because it’s heading down that road.
