Odsonne Edouard and promising Celtic youngsters spotted training with Postecoglou
More potentially good news for Celtic supporters, as Odsonne Edouard and some promising youngsters turned up for pre-season training.
The club released some photos of Ange Postecoglou putting his new team through their paces at Lennoxtown. Edouard will be the centre of attention, but Nir Bitton, Ewan Otoo, Adam Montgomery, Scott Robertson and fan favourite Ismaila Soro also featured.

After months of Odsonne Edouard speculation, seeing him in Celtic training gear offers a real boost. Looking ahead to our UEFA Champions League qualifier against FC Midtjylland [UEFA], having French Eddy as an option is no bad thing at all.
The only incoming business so far has been shoring up the deal for Liam Shaw. With that in mind, keeping some of our prime talents for such a big game is hugely important. Meanwhile, for the youngsters, there’s a huge opportunity. After Ange Postecoglou’s declaration of intent for Academy talents [Celtic FC], the Greek-Australian could get some ideas for his team in 21-22.
Celtic face a busy pre-season schedule. Four pre-season games await Postecoglou’s side, with Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton Athletic, Bristol City and Preston North End taking on the Bhoys [Celtic FC].
What does this mean for the future of Odsonne Edouard at Celtic?
Most likely? Probably not a great deal. He is employed by Celtic, and as such, should be expected to turn up for training. But what it is, is an opportunity for Ange Postecoglou to have a chat with him. To see what his aims are, how close he is to a move, and if his mentality is right for another crucial league campaign.
If Postecoglou can convince Edouard to commit to Celtic, then it would be a significant boost, in the sense that, obviously, we keep our best player. However, it would be an expensive risk to keep Eddy, given his contract situation, and the fee the Hoops could demand for the Frenchman.
Whatever the case may be, he’s back in training. Until we know otherwise, he’ll be in contention to face Midtjylland, and he’s getting to grips with a brand new boss for the fourth time at Lennoxtown (including John Kennedy).
It’ll be an interesting month, you can bet on that. But for now, it’s great to see some of the Bhoys back at work.
