Odsonne Edouard has made a surprise admission about his decision to join Celtic.
The Frenchman was a huge success at Parkhead after initially joining on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 before being signed on a permanent basis in 2018 for £8m.
Edouard went on to score 88 goals for the Hoops before being sold to Crystal Palace in 2021.
Brendan Rodgers made the decision to sign him despite a difficult loan spell with Toulouse, and while it paid off, the forward admitted that it wasn’t well thought out.

Odsonne Edouard says he joined Celtic ‘impulsively’
Thankfully, the move to Celtic paid off and the forward went down as one of the best strikers to play for the club since Henrik Larsson.
Now thriving back in Ligue 1 with Lens, the 27-year-old reflected on his career, where he confessed that his decision to join the Bhoys wasn’t fully thought out, but knows it turned out for the best.
He told L’Equipe: “I left [Toulouse] a bit impulsively, and Celtic was the best opportunity.
“Going abroad at 19 opened my eyes and helped me with my personal development.
“It’s part of my journey, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.”
Celtic were right to not re-sign Odsonne Edouard
There were rumours suggesting that the forward was set for a famous Celtic Park return in the summer.
A striker was at the top of the Hoops’ shopping list and they left it extremely late before signing free agent Kelechi Iheanacho after deadline day.
While having Edouard return would’ve felt like a full circle moment, Celtic still made the right decision to not bring him back to the club.
As proved by the end of Rodgers’ second spell in charge, coming back doesn’t always have a happy ending and the memories of his time at the club will remain intact.
