Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard has found the back of the net yet again this evening and has emerged as the continent’s top young goalscorer at international level.

The Frenchman has now scored a massive nine goals for the French U21 side in 2021 European U21 Championship qualifying, moving clear of Arsenal talent Eddie Nketiah and AZ star Dani de Wit, both of whom are on eight with England and the Netherlands (UEFA).

Edouard’s latest came from the penalty spot against Azerbaijan, following on from his spot-kick vs Georgia on Friday night.

Incredibly, he’s scored in every one of the French’s qualifying matches so far and has a massive 13 goals in eight caps at the U21 age level (Transfermarkt).

His latest double comes when he is not even fully match fit, having missed two Bhoys games prior to the international break.

Thankfully any injury problems do not look to be serious and with his goalscoring run continuing, he should be in excellent shape to hit the ground running on his return to Neil Lennon’s squad.

He actually started tonight’s game against Azerbaijan so it’ll be likely he comes straight back into the team for Saturday’s trip to Ross County in the Highlands.

These latest goals for France will only add to the hype surrounding the striker, but hopefully we can continue to rebuff any interest from England and other big leagues around Europe.

Keeping him is absolutely crucial for our ten-in-a-row charge and Europa League ambitions, especially when he’s in red hot form like this.

In other news, Charlton have confirmed we’re interested in signing Alfie Doughty.
