Celtic’s Europa League opponents Lazio have reportedly entered the race to sign forward Odsonne Edouard.
The Scotsman say that the Italian side and local rivals Roma have joined the likes of Napoli and Borussia Dortmund in the hunt for the 21-year-old who has registered six goals already this season.
Earlier this week the Daily Mail reported that Napoli were in for the Hoops man who is said to be valued at around £30million. Celtic were said to be keen to hold onto the French under-21 international until at least the end of the season.
Edouard is destined for big things
It’s no surprise to see yet more teams linked with Edouard. He must be one of the most sought after young forwards on the continent at the moment. Edouard has performed consistently for Celtic for the past six months or so but it is his performances for the French side that will have captured the attention of most suitors.
Celtic fans will be hoping that Edouard can continue to show his form in European competition. However, good displays and goals in the Europa League would heighten interest further and make it more likely that he won’t be around next season.
Much like Dembele before him, it seems like a case of enjoying Edouard while he’s here. Because it won’t be forever.
Hoops fans will just hope that when he leaves, he goes for big money. If that happens and we sign a proper replacement then nobody can grumble too much.
