There were many Celtic men eager to get the Timothy Weah deal over the line, but Odsonne Edouard’s messages to the American prove he may have wanted it most.

Weah sealed a six-month loan deal at Celtic Park earlier this week. His potential is of scary levels, and the Hoops will be hoping they see some of that on show between now and the end of the season.

The striker arrived at Celtic’s Dubai base after signing, and immediately got involved in training. Weah’s eagerness to get started at the club is infectious, as he gets to grips with life at Celtic.

But, when speaking to Celtic TV, Weah lifted the lid on some determined messages from Edouard. The pair know each other from their PSG days together, and the Frenchman couldn’t help but get in touch when he knew of the interest.

“Yeah (I spoke to him). It’s funny because the day I had the visit, he DM’d me on Instagram. He was like “Bro, are you coming are you coming!?”.

“I was like “Yeah. I had a meeting with the gaffer. I’m really loving the team and loving the club and I’m gonna come here. I’m here to stay.”

“He saw me today in the locker room. We were joking and catching-up – it’s great to see him again and it’s great to see how he’s progressed and developed at the club. Hopefully I can do the same.”

A special friendship that could benefit Celtic

Everyone knew that the pair were both at PSG together at some stage. But nobody particularly knew just how close they were with each other.

It seems that there could be a good friendship there that Celtic could reap some rewards from. They’re highly likely to have an understanding of each other’s game, and this could be massive for the Hoops.

Celtic have long been needing some help for the Frenchman, and it appears that Weah could be exactly that. It’s vital that the forward-line get along, and between Edouard and Weah – that’s a good start.

Vakoun Issouf Bayo will also be looking to get himself into that friendship group. It’s likely that we see plenty of Weah and Edouard in particular, however.

Finally, supporters are getting some news to be excited about. The mood at Parkhead has swung upwards once more, and everyone is looking forward to seeing how this striking team perform.

Celtic still have other priority areas to fill too this month. A right-back and at least one centre-back is essential before January 31st. For now, however, fans are just loving the addition of Weah.
