Odsonne Edouard’s goal against Rangers has been voted as Celtic’s Goal of the Month for March. The Frenchman’s brilliant solo strike won the award run by the club’s official television channel Celtic TV.
Fans were given the opportunity to vote for one of five strikes from the month. Edouard’s goal saw off stiff competition from the likes of James Forrest who netted an emphatic goal in the Scottish Cup quarter-final against Hibernian.

One lucky supporter was also awarded with a home shirt signed by the former PSG man.
And the Hoops faithful won’t tire of re-watching the strike. Edouard picked the ball up on the counter just inside the Rangers half. He then drove forward, bamboozling Gers centre-back Joe Worrall before clipping the ball past Allan McGregor.
Steven Gerrard’s side did respond in the second-half through Ryan Kent’s low finish. However, the 21 year-old Edouard soon had another big say on the match. He set-up James Forrest for the winner just minutes from time.

Criticism of Edouard has been harsh
The big striker has been criticised quite heavily from some sections of the Celtic support this season but it’s easy to forget his circumstances. Edouard is still very young, and this has been the first season of his career where he’s been expected to perform week-in week-out.

The loss of his compatriot and good pal Moussa Dembele to Lyon can’t have helped either. Edouard has scored 14 league goals this season and still has top scorer Alfredo Morelos in his sights.
He’s had to deal with a lot of pressure given the hefty fee Celtic paid for him last summer. Being any club’s most expensive player can’t be easy but Edouard has showed so far that the money was well spent.
