Celtic face St Johnstone this Saturday in the Scottish Premiership as they continue their ongoing battle for a domestic double, with all the action commencing at 3 pm.

The Bhoys come into this one off the back of a 4-2 victory over Livingston on Scottish Cup quarter-final duty and have since been notified that they will face Aberdeen at Hampden in the semi-final of the competition.

Daizen Maeda showed a clinical edge in front of the target during proceedings by netting a hat-trick; meanwhile, Kyogo Furuhashi did his chances of earning a start against the Perthshire side no harm following a late strike to seal a deserved triumph at Parkhead against the Lions.

Looking ahead to the St Johnstone clash, Callum McGregor has been ruled out until after the international break due to a calf/Achilles injury that is set to keep him sidelined until the resumption of the Scottish Premiership later this month.

Honduran winger Luis Palma has suffered a training ground knock and could also be absent. On the same token, it remains to be seen whether Cameron Carter-Vickers or Maik Nawrocki will be fit and in contention.

Reo Hatate is a long-term absentee under Rodgers. Furthermore, Hyunjun Yang is suspended amid his red card against Heart of Midlothian at Tynecastle.

In light of this, Nicolas Kuhn, James Forrest or Rocco Vata could have an opportunity to cement a slot on the right flank.

Officials and VAR confirmed as Celtic take on St Johnstone

VAR is a subject that hasn’t sat well with Celtic fans when taking recent events into account; however, we now have confirmation concerning who will be charged with officiating and reviewing this weekend.

Firstly, we now know that Euan Anderson has been appointed to referee proceedings. He is supported by Calum Spence and Paul McAvinue, who are set to run either line [Scottish FA official website].

Lloyd Wilson is the fourth official on this occasion. On VAR duty, Chris Graham and David McGeachie are on hand to cast a second look over any incidents.

Match tickets for Saturday’s encounter are sold out, but hopefully, the Bhoys can move top of the league table against St Johnstone in front of a capacity home crowd!
